This research deals with Neomegalotomus parvus behaviors related to choosing the crevices on pigeon pea, Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp., pods to lay eggs, Blocking of antenna, tarsi, eyes, or abdomen, and all structures simultaneously, did not affect the site of the pod (crevices) chosen to lay eggs. Oviposition occurred mainly in the afternoon. Most eggs being laid from 4-6 P.M. Females behaviors were observed. Females move antennae alternately up and down. Dabbing/antennation is a accomplished, first with antenna and then with antenna and labial tip. The ovipositor is exposed and swept over the surface of the pod, leading oviposition. Eggs are held together with and adhesive substance. Mechanoreceptors were observed on the ovipositor. |
